Four-Day Jaipur Rang Mahotsav Begins Today at JKK; New Zealand’s Theatre Performance to be a Special Highlight for the First Time

 

A Festival of Theatre, Art, Culture, Music, and Dialogue

 

To immerse the people of Rajasthan in the vibrant colors of theatre, the 14th Jaipur Rang Mahotsav is being organized at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). The festival will continue till 21 December. Audiences will get the opportunity to experience a rich blend of theatre, art, culture, music, and dialogue.

Bollywood actor Makrand Deshpande and Jaipur Rang Mahotsav Director Manu Gera unveiled the festival poster. On this occasion, Sanjay Dadhich, Dr. S. L. Bhardwaj, Dr. B. S. Jangid, and others were present.

Director Manu Gera said that the festival has been beautifully decorated with the colors of theatre, art, and culture. This year, the festival has been specially curated with women at the center.

The festival will begin at 12 noon with the children’s play “Einstein” by Makrand Deshpande, staged at Krishnayan Auditorium. At 2 PM, another play “Ajit” will be performed.

Special Highlights of Jaipur Rang Mahotsav This Year

  • Over four days, there will be 11 theatre performances, along with musical performances, storytelling sessions, and exhibitions.
  • 9 plays will be staged in Rajasthan for the first time.
  • Under the “Spotlight” segment, 6 plays will be presented this year.
  • For the first time, plays directed by women theatre directors will be showcased.
  • 7 plays are directed by female directors.

A special Talk Show will be organized on the themes of theatre, cinema, and expression, featuring Makrand Deshpande, Gulab Singh Tanwar, Dheeraj Nath Ojha, Rajkumar Raju, and Abhishek Gorkhami.

At 4 PM, Samina Zahra’s play “The Girgit” will be staged at Rangayan.
At 7 PM, “Einstein” will be performed again for theatre lovers.

First-Ever Heritage Walk at Jaipur Rang Mahotsav

For the first time, a Heritage Walk has been introduced at Jaipur Rang Mahotsav. The walk will start from Albert Hall Museum, passing through Ram Niwas Garden, and conclude at Jawahar Kala Kendra. Participants will get a chance to learn about Jaipur’s architecture and cultural heritage.

New Zealand’s Theatre Performance for the First Time

For the first time, a theatre production from New Zealand, directed by Samina Zahra, titled “The Girgit”, will be staged. Through this international collaboration, local Jaipur artists will share the stage with global artists. The New Zealand presentation will feature artists from Jaipur, Pakistan, Germany, and international artists from Nadia, France.

Preserve Folk Arts – They Are Our Heritage: Deshpande

Bollywood actor Makrand Deshpande, who visited JKK to see the ongoing State-Level Exhibition, emphasized the importance of preserving folk arts, calling them our cultural heritage.

Under the guidance of cultural institution Rasik Khan and with the participation of Bhagya Khan, folk art performances were presented. The Lok Kala Rang Manch mesmerized the audience with Chang and Bansuri performances.

A major attraction was Raju Bhatt, a traditional puppeteer, who presented the story of Maharaja Amarsingh using Kathputli puppets, synchronized to the beats of the Dholak.

Makrand Deshpande highlighted that the Department of Culture and the State Government are continuously organizing such programs across the state.
