After India, now Pakistan steps back from the Jaipur Sufi Festival

Just after India decided to not be a part of the SAARC Summit taking place in Islamabad, Pakistan, now Pakistani delegation has stepped back from the 3 day long Jaipur Sufi Festival to be held in India.

JSF 2016

The Jaipur Sufi Festival is organised annually by the Foundation of SAARC Writers And Literature (FOSWAL), in association with the Rajasthan government. This year, the Jaipur Sufi Festival is to be held on October 14-16, 2016 at Hotel Diggi Palace in Jaipur.

Pakistani artists and authors aren’t coming for Jaipur Sufi Festival

But Pakistani artists and authors have backed off from attending the event this year. A 25-member Pakistani delegation comprising of artists, poets, academicians and authors was invited to participate in JSF earlier this year.

However, none of the Pakistani artists and authors have confirmed their participation in the event. Because of this, the final list of participants, which has a total of 400 participants from SAARC nations, has no participant from Pakistan.

The Clash between the Two Nations

Since the Uri attack, things between the two countries have been going hot. Indian soldiers performed surgical strike to kill the terrorists alleged for Uri attacks. India has also denied playing any cricket matches with Pakistan and has put a ban on Pakistani actors performing in Bollywood. Indian delegates cancelled their visit to Islamabad to attend the SAARC Summit.

Since the conditions have got so worse, Pakistani delegates also found it difficult to come to India in such unpleasant circumstances. They must be scared and perhaps that’s the only reason why we won’t have any members from Pakistan at JSF 2016.
