Every year, National Crime Record Bureau brings forth the public the data for a year for the crime cases all over the country. Such data is presented before the public by the name “भारत में अपराध” (Bharat Mein Apradh).
The data collected and presented reveal the cases of crime prevailing in the country and a particular city and brings it in light before the public, but the data is incapable of in-depth research and cannot provide information about particular localities and the degree of safety in every locality.
Some studies have been made and the data collected has been briefed below:
According to the police records for the time period of January 1, 2016 to May 31, 2016, it has been observed that several cases have been filed and in light of these cases, Pratap Nagar is the most unsafe area for a family or a person to reside at.
In the study period of 5 months, a total of 9948 crime cases have been lodged as a complaint with the police and out of these 9948 cases, 436 cases have been filed in the Pratap Nagar police station solely. Majority of the cases in the city have been filed in the police station of Pratap Nagar only. Robbery of vehicles account for the most filed reports and cases also include robbery, eve-teasing etc.
Against the most unsafe area stands the safest area in the city and the same is area of the Sanjay Circle. In a period of 5 months, only 23 cases have been reported in the apropos police station of Sanjay Circle.
Out of the total cases, Sanjay Circle is the safest area to reside at. Only 23 cases have been filed from this area, however, these cases include a case for robbery and another one for kidnapping.
48 and 44 cases have been lodged in police stations from the Lalkothi and Subhash Chowk area.
Under the Jaipur Commission, a total of 65 police stations are listed. This number consists of 4 women police stations, 4 police stations that cater to accidents, 1 police station that caters to tourists and travellers and the other common 56 police stations.
Leaving apart the 9 special kind of police stations, investigation has been done for all the 56 common police stations and the cases filed in them in the period of January 1, 2016 to May 31, 2016. In the investigation done, crimes of serious nature were segregated and on this basis the police stations were demarcated.
There are 130 cases of rape that have been registered in the initial five months of the year 2016 under the Jaipur Commission. 7 cases of rape out of this have been filed from the locality of Mansarovar. 6 cases of rape each have been filed from Muhana and Bagru.
There have been 42 cases of murder in the city of Jaipur in the period of January 1, 2016 to May 31, 2016. However in 21 regional police stations reports for the same have not been filed. These cases apropos to 35 police stations. Amer and Kardhani had 4 each case of murder, 3 murder cases in Karni Vihar and 2 cases of murder each from Vaishali Nagar, Bagru, Shivdaspura, Ramganj, Galta Gate, Sanganer, Pratap Nagar, Kanota and Tunga.
In the period of 5 months of January 1, 2016 to May 31, 2016, there have been 236 reports lodged for kidnapping. In this category, Murlipura is the most unsafe area for it recorded a number of 15 cases of kidnapping. 12 cases were filed from Ramganj and 11 cases each for kidnapping from Brahmpuri and Galta Gate.
1613 robberies have taken place in merely a period of 5 months, which is quite startling.
Robberies have taken place in the areas of Shipra Path, Mansarovar, Vaishali Nagar and Jyoti Nagar. The number of robberies for each of these areas is 135, 119, 91 and 78 respectively.
239 cases for the robbery of one’s own vehicle have been filed in the police station of Jawahar Circle. Where it has been quoted earlier that Pratap Nagar is the most unsafe area for one to reside, it has also been known now that 177 cases for the robbery of vehicles have been lodged from Pratap Nagar.
