Central Home Minister Rajnath Singh emphasises on giving fame to valour of Maharana Pratap

Maharana Pratap is widely regarded as the bravest warrior in the golden history of Rajasthan.

In the programmes organised on the occasion of 476th birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap in Gogunda, Central Home Minister Rajnath Singh, State President Congress Sachin Pilot and Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje highlighted the heroism of Maharana Pratap.

Rajnath Singh, in his address said that stories of valour, sacrifice and immolation of Maharana Pratap should be added in the curriculum of schools. He targeted the historians by saying that stories related to Maharana Pratap have been altered incorrectly by the historians which has brought a reduction in heroism of Pratap. Discretion of historians to make anybody famous isn’t correct according to him and he asked the historians that why Maharana Pratap hasn’t been declared great by calling him “Great King Maharana”. He said that government shall try that there shouldn’t be any reduction in valour of the great warrior.

He further pointed the move by saying,“ Why Akbar or Alexander the Great are regarded Great? Because they had a vast army or immense wealth? No, they are considered great because they sacrificed.”

He generously praised Pratap by describing his personality as  multi-dimensional. He said that entire life of Pratap depicted sacrifice and heroism so he should be regarded as great.

He also clarified about the battle between Maharana Pratap and Akbar. He said that people misjudge the historic battle as Hindu-Muslim battle. Maharana Pratap fought the battle for security and pride of Mewar.  While the army chief of Pratap was Hakeem Khan Soor, there were several Hindus in the army of Akbar.

Sachin Pilot said that lessons of valour and heroism of Maharana Pratap should be taught to the children and youth. They can feel proud of the brave history of Rajasthan only when they know about Maharana Pratap and his heroic deeds.

He used to bring money from wealthy persons, prosper and patriotic donators and give it to Pratap. Weapons, food etc. could be purchased only because of Bhama Shah’s help. For making developing Rajasthan a developed state, not one but many Bhama Shahs are required today.

It is pertinent to note that Bhama Shah Yojana has been implemented by Vasundhara Raje to provide financial assistance to the females directly in their bank accounts.
