Recently, a list was released, which included politicians worldwide, who remain active on Twitter. According to this list named ‘2016 Twiplomacy’, which has been released by Burson- Marsteller, Sushma Swaraj, the Minister of External Affairs of India, is the most followed women politician in the world. She has a total of 50 lakh followers on Twitter.
After her, the second most followed one is the Queen Rania of Jordan, who has a total of 47 lakh followers. Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan is the Queen consort of Jordan after she married the now King of Jordan, Abdullah bin al-Hussein. Even since then, she has gained name because of her good, encouraging work in the fields of education, health, youth, community empowerment and more.
According to ‘2016 Twiplomacy’ stats, the top politicians across 173 countries in the world utilize Twitter to connect with the public and the world and have good conversations.
The way Sushma Swaraj has put Twitter to use has impressed many, not only from the ruling government but also from the opposition. She has transformed Twitter as a medium to extend a helping hand to anyone and everyone. Being socially active on Twitter, Sushma Swaraj has saved some lives; then she has also protected people from getting into traps and more. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, PMO India and Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj are the three accounts from India, which have made it to the top 10 list. America’s President Barack Obama tops the list with 750 lakh followers on Twitter. Pope Francis, who has his Twitter account in 9 languages, is on number 2 with a combined total of 208 lakh followers. And India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi ranks third with around 204 lakh followers.
