Pollution check and control in the city of Jaipur - Localities | Nagars


World Health Organisation releases a World Health Report which depicts a scenario of the city, country and the world’s health. Providing stipulated standards which govern the countries of the world for international health, this year the report includes the city of Jaipur.

Jaipur city to be under pollution check:

The inclusion of the city in the report is not a positive sign and a signal for the city residents.

World Health Organisation has ordered for findings and pollution check and controls in the Pink City Jaipur. On the list which comprises the names of the cities which are the most polluted, Jaipur as a city has been mentioned to undergo pollution checks by the authorities.

Duration of the pollution check program:

With thorough support of the Central Ministry of Science and Technology, the pollution check and analysis will go on for 50 consecutive days round the clock, which means a check for continuous 24 hours for the next 50 days.

Government departments - Laboratories and equipment

The pollution levels will undergo an in depth check and analysis for which the Central Ministry for Geology has rendered its laboratory and its utilities. This laboratory is being installed in the city where there is an expected high level of pollution and also a high percentage of people residing in a particular area.

Central Science and Technology Department, Ministry of Geology, Meteorological Ministry and State Pollution Control Board shall study this report derived in total and shall begin to devise plans for pollution control and check in the city.

City localities under this program:

Check done:

There has been a check and analysis of pollution already being done for two localities of the Jaipur city. These localities are Malviya Nagar and Jawahar Nagar. The pollution check and analysis went on for a period of 5 days for each of the localities.

Check ongoing:

Ajmeri Gate (near the walled city) in Jaipur is now going to be under an observation.  At Ajmeri Gate, near Yaadgar (formally the police station, here yaadgar is informal) a pollution control and check machine has been installed.

Check to be done:

There is a requisition for electric connections worth 4 kilowatts in various areas of the city. These areas are namely Mansarovar, Malviya Nagar, Ajmeri Gate, Central Park, Vaishali Nagar, Vidhyadhar Nagar, Sitapura, Sanganer and Shastri Nagar. The arrangement for this has made and has majorly been aimed in the Jal Vibhag.

Cities in the country on the pollution check radar:

The Central Government is on move to determine the pollution levels in the major cities of the country and to study it thoroughly. Under this, Pune as a city was the first one to undergo this pollution check and control.

On the second place is the city Ahmedabad. After the city Jaipur, the cities to the northern side of the country will be under this pollution evaluation. The data collected from this study in the country shall be published on the Central Government’s project System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (acronymic to SAFAR).

The below mentioned gases and its equivalents are being determined in the air:

  • Ammonia
  • Sulphur Dioxide
  • Nitrogen Dioxide
  • Sulphur Dioxide
  • Carbon Dioxide
  • Volatile Organic Compound (Benzene and other harmful gases)
  • Particulate Matter - 10
  • Particulate Matter - 2.5
  • Level of the ozone gas

 

A study of air quality and weather related data is also being aimed to be collected by means of this study.

Senior scientist Mr. MB Sharma of the board states that the study of some matter and data is being conducted on an extensive level for the very first time.
