Musthafa PC Raised a Rs.100-crore Company with his Fresh Food idea


Musthafa PC’s company named iD Fresh Food has become a Rs.100-crore company last October. It is a big name in the household, selling their famous freshly packed idli-dosa batter in the country’s major cities like Chennai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. Here we are sharing the story of how Musthafa went on from failing in the sixth grade to building up a Rs.100-crore company.

Family Background & Education

Musthafa PC (43) belongs to a distant village in the Wayanad district of Kerala. His father worked in the coffee plantations and had studied this class 4th, while his mother had never gone to school. Musthafa himself failed in 6th class but then, he graduated from some of the finest educational institutes in India, namely NIT Calicut and IIM Bangalore.

Story behind the Idea that clicked

When asked about the beginning of his iD’s journey, Musthafa told that he never thought of becoming an entrepreneur. He had always wanted to build a name of his own in the field of engineering. But then, on one fine day his brother, Shamsudheen saw a store sell idli-dosa batter in normal polythene. The idea of preparing packs of idli-dosa batter and supplying them came from there.

The Beginning

Musthafa then started this company with an investment of just Rs.25,000 in the year 2005. He was supported by his 4 cousins – Nazer, Shamsudheen, Jafar and Noushad. During the initial days, they only managed to prepare 10 packets in a day, while today their company, ‘iD Fresh Food’ prepares some 10,000 packets every day. Their company is providing jobs to some 1000 people today.

Future Plans

When asked about future plans, Musthafa told that he plans to raise his Rs.100-crore company into a Rs.1000 crore company in the coming 5-6 years. He is aiming to provide employment to at least 5000 people in the coming 5-6 years.
