New Trend in the City of Jaipur: Girls who plan to marry late or working women who plan to become a mother only after establishing their career, are opting for options like egg-freezing and embryo-freezing. Along with the metro cities’ girls, now working professionals in Jaipur are also opting for these safe options for their future.
Jaipur’s gynecologist says that girls have become more aware and cautious in the past 5 years. Most of them decide to gain financial stability first and then only they move towards planning a child. There are cases where girls are at the peak of their careers, having lots of responsibilities which come alongside a good package. Because of their work responsibilities, many of them aren’t ready for taking up responsibilities of a marriage or a child.
There is only one major risk associated with late wedding and that is the possibility of giving birth to an unhealthy child. Thinking of this risk, young girls are going for embryo-freezing options at the early stages in life. The ratio of girls, who are opting for such options, has increased by about 10-20% in the last 5 years.
IVF has a success ratio of only around 30-40%. However, some doctors suggest that the success ratio of embryo freezing is about 50%, which is greater than that of IVF.
Gynecologist Dr. Neelam Bafna revealed that in embryo-freezing, the female egg and sperm are preserved together. They are kept in nutrition media via an injection at low temperature so that the embryo keeps getting nutrition. After this, it is transferred to liquid nitrogen. An embryo can be kept frozen for a period of 10 years. Embryo-freezing is a process for married couple.
Gynaecologist Dr. Gunjan Jain told that embryo-freezing is costlier than IVF by about 10000-20000 rupees. But since embryo-freezing option is mostly used by high-profile professional working women, they don’t find it that expensive.
