Events are an exciting, joyful affair, which give relief from the monotonous and tiresome city life. When it comes to Jaipur, the city hosts a number of fun colourful events, which mostly revolve around showcasing art, music, literature, culture and heritage. Here is a list covering some diverse events that the city hosts every year. Add them to your bucket list and enjoy.

Jaipur Literature Fest (JLF)

Jaipur Literature fest or the Literary fest, is a time to rejoice for all literature enthusiasts. It involves a display of colours, art, fashion, food stalls and much more. The fest dates back to the year 2006 and is often addressed as the largest free literary fest in the country. Big names in the field of literature as well as several local language writers are invited for its sessions.

JLF takes place at Hotel Diggi Palace’s 6 broad venues including its front lawns, Char Bagh, Mughal Tent and Samvad, which are open-roof venues, and Baithak and Durbar Hall, which are closed-roof venues. The fest involves enthralling debates and intellectual discussions among the participants. Hotel Narain Niwas is another location for holding JLF sessions.

Several volunteers work together to ensure proper management of the event and to help visitors and participants. The fest is graced by vast crowds with people belonging to different tastes, backgrounds and avenues such as artists, bloggers, journalists, photographers, fashion enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, families, students and literature lovers. The fest calls prominent Hindi authors and writers too.

The morning sessions often start with a classical, folk or sufi performance in the Front Lawns. You get to enjoy a variety of lip smacking food choices and quality cocktails and mocktails, available at local stalls at the venue. Food choices may vary from spicy to desserts, salads to main courses and not to forget the legendary diggipuri chai. JLF includes musical evenings as well, which are usually organized at the luminous Hotel Clarks and Amber Fort or at other phenomenon locations in the city.

Registrations are divided into different categories like registrations for general public, delegates, authors, etc. Register yourself for the fest prior to its dates of occurrence.

Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF)

Jaipur International Film Festival is the world’s fastest growing and a prestigious film festival, which is organized in the month of January or February every year. Launched in January 2009, it is the first one to have received films from 100 countries, within just 7 years of its existence. JIFF brings you the world’s largest and most secure film library, with films depicting the culture of several lands.

JIFF is a not-to-miss event for movie goers, film fans, new filmmakers, students (in the field of filmmaking, script writing, photography, etc.), successful filmmakers and their associates and related personalities. JIFF lets you find and see a huge number of wonderful films from World Cinema, Oscar nominated films, films in regional languages, debut directors’ films and more. Also, it is an opportunity to meet and associate with talented filmmakers, writers, directors, producers, distributors, sales agents and more.

Jaipur Auto Expo

Jaipur Auto Expo is organized during the first quarter of every year. It is Rajasthan’s foremost and biggest exhibition on automobiles, which brings a complete spectrum of the best auto brands under one roof. The event creatively exhibits several newly launched and popular automobiles from the most renowned vehicle manufacturers across the globe. It includes the display of SUVs, MUVs, bikes, Sedans, cars, vintage cars, chopper bikes and much more.

It is a promising platform for visitors to compare leading international and national brand products at one place. You get to know more about the latest trends, future products and new launches, in the automobile industry. Other inclusions are insurance, finance, license assistance, car care, lubricants, accessories, etc. Some other activities like drawing competition, contests and lucky draws are also a part of the Jaipur Auto Expo so as to enhance visitors’ involvement with the show.

Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS)

Jaipur Jewellery Show, better known as the JJS, is Jaipur’s annual jewellery trade fair. JJS was first launched in the year 2003 and is now one of the most celebrated and legendary jewellery fair. It is listed as the largest gems and jewellery show in northern India and the second largest show in India. This show is organized in the month of December and is visited by some 30,000 national and international visitors every year.

You can find a huge collection of some of the finest jewellery pieces in diamonds, pearls, platinum, gold, silver and antiques, along with a variety of rough precious and semi-precious gemstones, at one place. Exhibitors showcase their latest and finest designs of glistening jewellery, almost all of which will leave you wonderstruck.

Décor India Show, Jaipur

The Décor India Show is being organized in Jaipur since the year 2001. It is Rajasthan’s biggest décor show and one of the most sought after events in the state. The show exhibits several excellent contemporary interior, architectural, lifestyle and reality products. It is an ideal platform that brings together the leading global and local décor manufacturers, suppliers and consumers.

The event receives visitors from different folks of life including traders, architects, interior designers, builders, students, engineers, real estate groups and consumers. They get an insight into the latest trends in interiors, exteriors, real estate furniture, furnishings and lifestyles.

SAARC Sufi Festival

The Foundation of SAARC Writers and Literature (FOSWAL) organizes a 3-day long Sufi festival at Hotel Diggi Palace, Jaipur. This festival involves Sufi dance and music performances, poetry readings, book launches and interactive sessions. The event is graced by a number of Sufi scholars, poets, musicians, singers, dancers and performers from 8 different countries including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

During this festival, topics such as peace and reconciliation, love, compassion and respect are talked of. The event aims at encouraging inter-cultural harmony and peace and respect for all religions.

Jaipur Theatre Festival ‘Jairangam’

Jaipur Theatre Festival ‘Jairangam’ is the biggest theatre festival of north India, which has redefined the significance of performing arts in the country. Several artists and actors grace the event and perform here in Jaipur every year during Jairangam. The fest aims at uplifting theatre and includes a lot many activities like art exhibition, food festival, musical nights, street plays and talk shows with prominent artists.
