A native of Barmer has done a wonder. Khumaan Singh Nagarda, aged 31 years, has successfully has caused to prepare a mobile charger-cum-power bank based on solar energy. He claims that it the first and only power bank based on solar energy.

The main objective of the product is to discharge people of mobile charging problems in case of nil or minimal electricity availability in the remote village areas

It has received the support of Government also. The product has been declared purely tax free.

From where did he get the idea?

Khumaan is a computer coaching and cyber cafe operator since last 11 years. He got the idea of solar charger after reading news wherein it was mentioned that mobile-users of Neembalnada, a fiscal village and its surrounded areas of Gram Panchayat Nagarda had to travel 10 kilometres for charging their mobiles. They could charge their phones only after paying 10 rupees.

So he decided to bring such a product which could help the people charge their mobiles even without availability of electricity. For this, he searched about various Indian Companies online but none of them agreed to produce solar power charger. Finally, a company of China agreed to produce the power bank based on temperature and climatic conditions of India and supplied the first lot to him about 11 days ago.

In last 11 months, almost 35,000 pieces have been sold out in the entire country. In all major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai & Jaipur, the product is supplied from Barmer.

Prominent features of solar charger

  • Gets fully charge from the sunlight within 1 hour;
  • 500 MH battery backup;
  • Power bank chargeable by electricity as well;

Thus the power bank acts as a lifeline wherever electricity is not available. More such kind of products can be produced in “Make in India” campaign that are based on solar power and consume minimum electricity. Emphasis should also be given to promote these products more and more and they should be kept tax free up to a certain extent.
